Penticton wine tours at a glance
Penticton sits in the middle of the Okanagan wine country. The Naramata Bench lies next to Penticton on the east shore of Okanagan Lake, and a winding wine route leads from there to Naramata Village. Summerland lies across Okanagan Lake, and the Skaha Bench runs along the east shore of Skaha Lake. Most visitors combine a few tasting visits with a lake view and a long lunch.
A wine tour here means a day on a set route, not a single attraction. You choose between a guided trip, a driver, a taxi, or a ride on the old rail bed. Tasting rooms set their own fees, hours and booking rules, so check each one before you go.

Our picks: Okanagan wine tours
Pick the Naramata days for the closest wineries, and the Summerland, Osoyoos or Oliver days to see another corner of the valley. The guide drives, so everyone can taste; ask each time what the tasting fee and lunch cover.

Wine tours Naramata: the bench and the village
The area most visitors mean when they search for a Penticton wine tour.
The Naramata Bench runs along the east shore of Okanagan Lake between Penticton Creek and Okanagan Mountain Park. The province recognised it as its own sub-region in 2019. More than 40 wineries line the road toward Naramata Village, and the village itself has places to stay and eat. The drive is short, but the road bends and climbs, so plan on stops rather than a quick run.
Tasting rooms differ a lot. Some ask for a fee that is credited if you buy a bottle. Others work on a donation. Some rooms recommend booking and ask groups to tell them in advance, while others welcome drop-in visits. Do not assume that every room is open every day, and book the ones you care about.
For a longer route that includes the Okanagan Valley beyond Penticton, see Okanagan wine tours.

How to get around wine country
Four ways to link the tasting rooms.
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Guided wine tour | Several tastings in one day without driving | Fixed route and pickup times |
| Taxi or hired driver | Small groups with their own route | Agree the pickup for the ride back |
| Bike on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail | A slow ride through the vineyards | Detours to tasting rooms can leave the rail bed |
| Own car with a sober driver | Flexible stops and a picnic | The driver does not taste |
For most visitors, a guided tour or a hired driver is the easiest choice. It lets everyone taste and keeps the day relaxed.
Tasting by bike
The rail trail is the scenic way in, with some limits.
The ride
The Kettle Valley Rail Trail leaves Penticton and runs through the vineyards toward Naramata and the Little Tunnel. That is about 16 km each way, or 32 km there and back, and roughly 1 to 1.5 hours in each direction.
Kettle Valley Rail Trail guide →The detours
Tasting rooms often sit off the old rail bed. Some detours climb or use public roads. Do not count on a flat, car-free ride from door to door.
The ride home
Do not treat a tasting as preparation for the ride back. Keep tastings small, eat well, and plan a lift for the last stretch if you are not sure.
Drinking and driving in British Columbia
In British Columbia, driving restrictions start at 0.05 percent blood alcohol, which is 0.5 per mille. 0.08 percent is not a safe limit. The simple rule for a wine day is that drivers do not drink. Pick a designated driver, a tour or a taxi before the first tasting.
Okanagan wine tours beyond Penticton
The wider Okanagan has around 200 licensed grape wineries, and the Similkameen Valley is a separate wine region. For tasting trips to the north, including Kelowna and West Kelowna, see the Okanagan wine tours guide. This site covers Penticton, the Naramata Bench, Summerland, Oliver and Osoyoos.

Penticton wine tours: frequently asked questions
Do I need a reservation for wine tastings?
It depends on the winery. Some recommend booking and ask groups to say so in advance, others welcome drop-in visits. Book the rooms you most want to see.
How much does a wine tasting cost?
There is no single price. Some tasting rooms charge a fee that is credited against a bottle, and others ask for a donation. Check each room before you go.
Can I cycle between wineries?
You can ride the Kettle Valley Rail Trail from Penticton toward Naramata, about 16 km one way. Detours to tasting rooms may leave the rail bed, and tasting before a ride is not a safe plan.
How far is the Naramata Bench from Penticton?
Naramata Village is about 14 km and 20 minutes from Penticton by car. The wineries lie along the route.
Is this the official Penticton wine tour site?
No. This is an independent guide and is not connected to any winery, tour operator or tourism board.
